Maximizing Your Hair Extension's Life!

Updated: Jun 24, 2021

Let's face it good hair ain't cheap and cheap hair is a pain in the 🤯. Once you invest in your hair extensions and installation it's up to you to make your extensions lives it's best life. Aftercare is not rocket science but it is the difference between you ending up with a high dollar rat's nest or luscious locks, boo.

Follow these 3 Rules:

  1. Prevent. Prevent any matting and tangling by brushing your hair with an extension brush . You have to brush your hair 2-3 times a day in order to avoid any matting. This brush is designed to reach down to your scalp and brush through all of hair without ripping or pulling your extensions out. If you're brushing, there's no matting going on. (Note: Always start from the bottom of your extensions and work way up.

  2. Protect. Protect your hair extension from heat, tanning beds and sprays, chlorine and salty waters and ripping. Hair extensions are made of human hair and we all know human hair gets split ends. Heat is enemy #1 if you're trying to avoid split ends. So, be sure to use a heat protectant that you can trust (not just smells good). Also, if you use a hair spray, be sure and chose one that works well with extensions (usually has a humidity control aspect) and has heat resistance.

  3. Replenish. When you're selecting a shampoo and conditioner for your hair extensions keep in mind that it's essential that you give your hair extensions what they need to stay healthy and drama frew. We’ve all heard to use sulfate-free shampoo, which is 💯% true. However, sulfate-free simple means that there is 1 less ingredient in the shampoo. You must select a shampoo and conditioner that is not only sulfate-free but it has all the vitamins, natural oils and nutrients you need to keep your hair and the extensions bouncing and behaving beautifully. If you’re going to use a serum or nourishing oil with heat protectant qualities, be sure to apply while your hair is damp after washing and conditioning your hair. Be sure to never leave your hair wet for any extended period of time after washing your hair. Towel dry extremely well and you blow dry at least to roots if you plan to got to bed immediately after.

Following these simple rules will make a huge difference in extending your hair extensions life. If you have more questions about hair extension, be sure to email us.
